Backup Plans for Your Outdoor Wedding
While we’ve planned and coordinated many weddings over the past few years, there is one thing we can tell you that’s a for sure thing. You can’t control the weather! As planners/coordinators, we typically can “work our magic” on your wedding day, but unfortunately this is one of those things that’s out of our control as well. However, we will do our best to work with your venue and vendors to ensure your day is still just as amazing and sometimes that means having a Plan B in place.
So, what exactly is a Plan B? Let’s say that you envision getting married outdoors under sunny blue skies, however, Mother Nature has other plans in store on your wedding day such as rain showers, chilly or even windy weather. While it’s an unfortunate circumstance, know that your big day can still be amazing! Most venues will have a backup plan or Plan B in place should this be the case. For instance, if you’re getting married at a golf club and envision saying “I do” overlooking the course, plan B might mean getting married indoors where the reception would take place later in the evening. Some venues ask that you make the call for a plan B on the morning of your wedding, while some venues are more flexible and allow you to make the call just a few hours before the ceremony begins. This will solely depend on the venue and how many staff they have available to help make it happen since ceremony decor would need to moved inside, possibly including chairs, or they may have to reset the reception space for a ceremony and then reset it again for the reception once the ceremony concludes.
Trust us when we say it always works out. Besides, rain on your wedding day is good luck! We’ve worked a number of weddings where unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and we had to bring an outdoor ceremony inside. The ceremonies were still beautiful and what matters most is you’re getting married! If rain or chilly weather is in the forecast on your wedding day, there are some other ways to prepare to make sure your guests are comfortable such as providing blankets, umbrellas and arranging for heat lamps. Finally, at the end of the day, trust your vendors. They’ve got your best interest in mind and will ensure the day is still wonderful!
