Venue Spotlight: Harriet Place
There are lots of new venues opening up across the Twin Cities and we recently stumbled across one that we especially love considering it’s a small and intimate gathering space. Introducing Harriet Place located in South Minneapolis! We stopped in for a tour and chatted with the owner, Susan Lacek, to find out more about this unique space and find out all what they can offer.
What is the maximum capacity of your space?
For a business group 10-40 people would be ideal; for a cocktail/mingling sort of social event, 50-60 maximum will feel comfortable.
What amenities does your space offer?
For starters, when you rent the space you get the entire property to yourself. On the exterior, this includes two private parking lots, and by late July we will have outdoor seating and patio space, too. Our interior amenities include a beautifully designed social lounge with floor to ceiling arched windows, a custom wood bar and large buffet area; a galley kitchen with private entry for caterers; a multiple purpose room that can be set up classroom, dining or cocktail style; a full conference room with AV set-up and wet bar; and a private cell phone room. We also feature high speed wifi and a Sonos music system (controlled via clients cell phones) throughout the space. Additionally, we offer clients free use of our high-top cocktail tables, work/dining tables and chairs, and entertaining items such as serving platters and beverage tubs. Our goal is to provide our clients with almost everything they need to host and entertain their staff, clients or guests.
Who is your target demographic?
Since our branding is Harriet Place ~ A Gathering Space; our target demographic is really anyone that wants access to an intimate, beautifully designed gathering space for their events and gatherings. On the business side these have included strategic planning meetings, workshops and fundraisers. On the social side, gatherings such as birthday, graduation and engagement parties, as well as bridal and baby showers have been popular. We even have a regular wellness and meditation class that uses the space weekly. So, there really is no limit to what sort of gathering you can host at Harriet Place.
Where are you located?
We are located in Southwest Minneapolis just east of Lake Harriet (our namesake) on the edge of the East Harriet/Fulton neighborhoods. The 46th St. & Bryant Ave. intersection is a charming little business district with longtime neighborhood tenants that include a renowned art gallery, frame shop, green grocer, hardware store and several more. Our building has served the neighborhood in various capacities since the 1940s, so it has a historic charm and character to it that clients love.
Is there anything you would say makes you particularly unique?
We think the space fits a unique niche that is currently missing in the market of gathering spaces. We are hearing from clients that it is often hard to find a space to have a small, intimate gathering that isn’t a back room of a restaurant. There just aren’t a ton of spaces outside your home to have, say a baby shower or bridal shower for example, and Harriet Place fits exactly that niche. We are perfect for the events that still want an intimate feel but that isn’t your home. Additionally, having great restaurants and caterers within blocks provides a variety of food options and exceptional service. And, lastly, you can bring in your own drinks and food if you would like, which can save you the costs of expensive wine lists or cocktails.
