Floral is a huge part of a wedding. It can add so much to your day. From the bouquets, to the ceremony arch design, to the ceiling installations and all the beautiful in between, it takes a lot of work! We reached out to Sarah from Rose and Laurel to learn more about her floral business. Read on to find out more about her!

How did you become interested in floral design?
It all started when my sister could not find a florist who could design exactly what she wanted. After creating her wedding flowers, I threw myself into learning floral design, and three years later, launched Rose and Laurel.

How did you get into wedding flowers specifically?
It’s always been weddings for me! I’ll occasionally do a larger corporate style event or even a memorial service, but weddings are how Rose and Laurel started, and what we are known for now!

What do you feel sets you apart from other florists in the wedding industry?
We don’t just deliver your flowers. We make sure the flowers you have invested in are captured by your photography and videography team so they look like a magazine. We make sure each wedding has “detail flowers” for your photographer to style your invitation, shoes, and rings (we’ll even show up early to make sure everyone stays on schedule). We coordinate with your planner, photographer and videographer to make sure your flowers are picture perfect and ready in time for all those family photos. We even make sure your videographer is able to catch us in action, from set-up, to lighting your candles.

Behind the scenes, we do even more to make your flowers are perfect: we source locally, we only use design methods that are reusable or compostable, and we hire only seasoned professionals who know how to hustle and make magic for you and your guest.

What are your favorite wedding flower trends right now?
We are seeing a return to a lush, Dutch Masters style design. This style is overflowing with a lush variety of ingredients, different colors of foliage, and emphasizes flowers as an art medium, where each stem contributes to the whole effect of the design. This also means a return to color – which can be scary or seem dated to some couples. But we specialize in creating pieces that will remain timeless, even with bold color choices.

What advice do you have for couples about choosing a florist?
Do you trust your florist? Our best wedding flowers are those that we created with full artistic control. Sound terrifying? Well, take a look at our portfolio or Instagram account. Everything we feature was created from a “vibe” and “color palette.” The week of your wedding we select ONLY the best flowers from our farmers in Minnesota and across the country. We select those flowers with our knowledge of how color works, how well that flower will survive, and how those flowers will photograph. We are artisans who take pride in our work and will move heaven and earth to make sure it is sheer perfection. Trust is where true artistry will happen.
