To many couples getting married, photography is one of the most important aspects of the wedding. The day comes and goes, but photos last a lifetime. Couples will look back at them for years to come so it’s important to find a photographer that matches your style and that you get along with. The wedding world is quite saturated with photographers and it can be overwhelming to find one that is the perfect match for you. We reached out to one of our favorites here in the Minneapolis area, Trish Allison Photography, and asked her a few questions. Read on to find out more about Trish!

What do you love most about being a wedding photographer?
It sounds cliché, but I LOVE the relationships that I build with my clients! I’m very involved and hands-on with my clients throughout the planning process, so by the time their wedding comes it’s SUCH an honor to witness not only two clients getting married, but friends in which I’m incredibly invested in their love story. It’s truly the pleasure of a lifetime to capture this special time in life for my clients!

What led you to the wedding industry, specifically?
I photographed my first wedding in 2014 and did a couple of weddings here and there, but my true emphasis at the beginning of my career was newborns and families. It wasn’t until I got married in 2017 that I fell in love with the process. There were so many moments my photographer captured that I didn’t realize would be so special to me. The emotional connection that I felt to the craft at that time really led me to start focusing on the wedding side of my business.

What are your favorite wedding trends right now?
I’m a sucker for all things timeless! With that said, I really love subtle, romantic trends. Loads of florals, a beautiful dinner menu on the dinner plate, wax seal elements, timeless calligraphy, and smaller floral bouquets that don’t overwhelm the bride’s dress. Oh, and I’ve been DYING to photograph a wedding where the bridesmaids wear all-white dresses! How gorgeous would that be in the fall?!

Tell us about your most memorable and fun wedding.
The first wedding that came to mind was one I photographed in June of this past year. It was a fairytale! The bride had this stunning sheer overlay over her strapless, ball gown dress, the bridesmaid dresses were a dusty blue color and from a European designer, and they had CHERRY BLOSSOM trees as centerpieces on the tables! It was elegant to the extreme, however, it was also SUCH a fun evening. Instead of a formal seated dinner, their reception was cocktail-inspired and had food stations set up around the parameter of the ballroom. They had everything you could imagine for food, from seafood (in monogrammed ice sculptures!), to a taco bar and everything in between. And because the wedding was in Green Bay, Wisconsin, their passed apps were cheese curds with a chipotle dipping sauce in a martini glass. The guests danced the night away with one of the best and most engaging bands I’ve ever heard! I’ll never forget it!

What makes you unique from other wedding photographers?
My client experience. I treat every client like they’re my one and only. From a customized, monogrammed welcome gift, to speedy fast gallery delivery, I want all my clients to feel like they’re taken care of and important.

Can you tell us about your packages and price point?
My wedding collections begin at $4000 with the average bride spending $4500. I take a select number of clients every year, so it’s super important that I speak with all couples prior to committing to ensuring we’d be a good match. I also have a fabulous team of associate photographers that serve clients if I’m already booked on their wedding date.

Tell us one thing we might now know about you otherwise.
I’m also a newborn photographer! I worked in marketing for a well-known baby brand before I took the leap to be a photographer full-time and worked closely on all of their commercial photo/video shoots, so I was extra confident working with newborn babies. I continue to serve newborn clients in addition to weddings when time allows. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many former wedding couples on the next, exciting chapter of their life!
