Tips for Choosing a Wedding Venue

Picking a venue for your wedding is a big deal and is likely one of the first thing you’ll do during the planning process. It also will set the tone for your wedding when it comes to the theme. We know it can be overwhelming when there are so many venues to choose from, so here are some tips on choosing a wedding venue.

Set a Budget
It is important to come up with the overall budget for your wedding and further break it down to what you are looking to spend in each category (i.e. venue, catering, bar, DJ/band, photographer, etc.) and rank the importance of these items. Once you have these broken down in terms of pricing and importance, it’ll help you narrow down your search for a venue in terms of cost.

Theme
Next would be to decide the kind of theme you are looking for and where you are looking to get married. For example, if you and your fiancé are edgier and like the city life, then you would most likely want to look for a venue that is in the city and has an industrial feel, whereas if you are more outdoorsy, you might want to look around at barn or farm venues in your area.

Guest List
Make sure you have a rough estimate on your guest list. This will help weed out venues that might not accommodate all your guests or venues that would have an excess of the amount of space that wouldn’t be used.

Venue Tours
Go on tours of venues you think you might like. This will help you nail down the exact type and location of a venue. Take your fìance, parents, and any important people you want with you to help decide on your venue.

Inquire About Available Dates
When looking around and touring venues, ask about available dates. If you have a certain date in mind, then the venues that don’t have that date available might not be the winner. But, if you end up loving the venue and they don’t have your exact date, you might just want to reconsider your date.

We hope you find these tips helpful when it comes to picking your venue! Remember, it’s your day, so make sure to pick a venue that reflects you and your fiancé. At the end of the day, all that matters is you get to be with the person you love!
