Vendor Spotlight: Voyageur Motion Pictures
Are you considering videography for your upcoming wedding? If so, you definitely need to check out Kea with Voyageur Motion Pictures! We had the chance to work with her a few times in 2018 and boy is she amazing! We decided to do a little Q&A session to find out more about her business.
What do you love most about being a videographer?
It is my greatest privilege to give couples the ability to emotionally re-immerse themselves in some the best moments of their lives. The sad fact is that people often forget a lot of their wedding day. There are moments that are simply lost in the busyness. I love that I can give couples back the big moments they celebrated, meaningful looks they shared, and encouraging words their loved ones spoke all with one click of a play button. The tearful phone call or emoji-filled text after a couple sees their film for the first time makes all those hours of editing so worth it!!
What led you to the wedding industry specifically?
My husband Rudy (who is the best second shooter ever!) and I eloped to San Francisco in June 2016. We drove off in our Jeep on a 5k+ mile adventure to an abandoned WWII bunker on a cliff overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The video that we made for ourselves of those travels & our elopement day is one of our favorite “possessions”. We still watch it frequently. The feeling it gave me to click a button and watch our adventure unfold is a blessing I wanted to give to others - and so, Voyageur Motion Pictures was born.
Tell us about your most memorable and fun wedding/event.
The wedding and luau I filmed for friends in Hawaii and boating around Lake Minnetonka for an island wedding last summer were truly amazing experiences! However, the “Best of Weddings Highlight Reel” that runs in my mind is a collection of smaller moments that I have shared with couples, their families, and other vendors. Like the time a bride insisted I take a celebratory shot with her after their ceremony! Or when a bride pulled me out on the dance floor when filming was done. It’s the conversations with photographers, parents, bridesmaids, or DJs, and it’s the joy of working together as a team with other vendors to make the day great. Those moments stick with me and bring a smile to my face.
What makes you unique from other wedding videographers?
A full day of video coverage (10am-11pm), drone footage, and a highlight film backup service are included with all of our packages. We offer a discount to honor our military and first responders. Also, in this field, it’s a little unique that I am a female lead videographer! I think that really helps me bond with the bride and set her at ease starting the day. Rudy and I also speak fluent Spanish! We have filmed weddings in over a dozen unique cultural and religious traditions and love to film weddings where we can learn more about how other cultures celebrate marriage!
Can you tell us about your packages and price point?
Weddings come in all shapes and sizes, so custom packages are always on the table. However, it’s really important to me that pricing and packages are listed on our website to view without requesting more info. All packages include a full day of video coverage and drone footage and pricing starts at $3,875. Our most popular by far is the Feature Film package ($4,775) which includes full video of your ceremony, speeches, and dances. We also are so proud to offer a discount to brides or grooms who are in the military or who are first responders!
Tell us one thing we might not otherwise know about you.
About a year ago we bought a 1905 home near the river in Saint Paul. We have been learning to make our own repairs to this old house including drywall repair, plumbing, framing, and electrical work. It’s involved lots and lots of YouTube videos, trial-and-error, holes in the walls, and countless trips to Home Depot. Owning an old home is no joke!
