Real Wedding: Shannon & Brian
This week we’re highlighting Shannon & Brian’s wedding that took place on March 14, 2020 at the Machine Shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our team had been planning with them for a little over a year and as soon as the year 2020 hit, we knew we were getting even closer to their big day! However, 2020 had other things in store as COVID-19 started to quickly circulate across the U.S. beginning in early March. While we counted down the days to their wedding, we weren’t quite sure what their wedding day was going to look like considering the way things were going. The virus was so new and things had only seemed to be spiraling out of control as each day passed.
The week of their wedding proved to be a week full of uncertainty as just three days before their big day, COVID-19 was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Tons of thoughts raced through our heads — Will their wedding day still be able to happen? What will their wedding day look like? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had cautioned that the virus spreads faster in large groups such as weddings and other social gatherings. With just a few days before their big day, our team checked in with the venue and vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page and ready to go as Shannon & Brian were still planning on getting married on March 14th regardless. AND THAT THEY DID! And literally just in time, too. The very next day, the CDC released a statement mentioning that social gatherings should not consist of 10 or more people due to the pandemic. And just a few short weeks later, the State of Minnesota, as well as many other states, went on a lock down in which weddings pretty much couldn’t happen at all unless under very strict guidelines.
Their big day started out just like any other ordinary wedding day surrounded by their wedding party and immediate family. Despite the fact they ended up with a much lower guest count than they anticipated, what truly matters is that they said their vows, got married, and had the best day of their life. They didn’t let COVID take that away from them. During Brian’s vows, he said: “During these past couple days of just craziness, where it felt like the world was collapsing around us, I kept thinking to myself, just please let me get the chance to marry her. I’m so happy today that I get to do that.” Shannon & Brian - Congratulations! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness.
