Attending a Wedding During COVID? If So, This One's For You!
I think it’s safe to say that we were all a bit worried when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State of Minnesota were figuring out what the guidelines would end up being for weddings and events earlier this year. While weddings could happen for a while, please know that as of November 21st, Minnesota has put a brief pause on weddings effective until December 18th. However, once the lights turn back on and it is safe to celebrate again, things like socially distanced tables, face masks, and hand sanitizer stations will likely be a thing, at least for the time being.
Going forward, there may still be many strict guidelines in place to help keep everyone safe and healthy. As a guest at a wedding, you may be asked to complete a brief health screening via e-mail or upon arriving to the venue. However, a health screening and temperature check isn’t required at this time, although it is strongly encouraged. A face mask must be worn at all times, including during dancing. The only exception to this would be that you’re able to remove the mask temporarily while eating and/or drinking. Guest tables can accommodate 6 people if they are all living in the same household, otherwise 4 people if they are not living in the same household. Also, you must adhere to social distancing of at least 6’ at all times.
Another thing you might notice is that there will be sanitizing stations placed strategically throughout the venue. Not to mention, social distancing decals on the floor for guests to follow. Face masks may even be provided upon entrance just incase you forgot yours at home (it happens, trust me!) Another thing you might notice is not as many dances happening, or no dance at all. While dancing is not recommended, some couples are still choosing to have this. Note that masks are now required during the dance portion of the night. Don’t forget to social distance! :)
At the end of the day, remember to be respectful of the rules and understand that these are put in place to keep everyone safe. Everyone still wants to celebrate those that are close to them, and weddings are the perfect example. It’s okay to enjoy yourself and be happy and carefree, but just remember to be safe and look out for your loved ones and those around you.
