For those of you who have been to a wedding reception, you know that the DJ selections carry the mood of the dance, and if they’re playing bad music it’s going to go downhill quickly. Well, with Ignite Lighting & Entertainment, you don’t have to worry about that. Meet JD Fischer, the owner of Ignite Lighting & Entertainment. We’ve teamed up with him at numerous weddings and his constant joy and tremendous talent for what he does is never a disappointment. JD was able to sit down with us and answer some questions about his company, how he got started, and why he loves what he does so much. See below to check out his answers and find out where you can follow him and what he is up to!

Tell us about you and your business.
Ignite Lighting & Entertainment is a business built to specialize in very personalized receptions, ceremony’s and lighting.

How did you get into DJing?
I was attending college at UW Superior and needed a job. I started working for a large multi op company for 4 years and then created my own. I sought out the best in the industry from around the world, took their classes, workshops, practiced, rehearsed, found mentors and started my own company.

What led you to the wedding industry, specifically?
After working in other industry’s the wedding industry provided me not only with the challenges that I crave but the amazing rewards of being part of one of the biggest days in peoples lives.

Tell us about your most memorable and fun wedding/event.
They are all memorably, I’ve had so many great weddings and magical moments over 14 years that it’s hard to narrow just one down. At the end of the night my favorite comment is “We had so much fun, we felt like you were part of the family!” – that means I did my job correctly in getting to know them and make sure they had the time of their lives!

What’s your go to “never fails to get them on the dancefloor” song?
It really depends on the crowd, it’s not a good idea to think that a certain song will work at every wedding, you have to go in being completely unbiased because crowds will surprise you on what they respond to.

What makes you unique from other DJs?
The amount of time, creativity, and personalization that I go through with my clients. By their wedding day we’re friends, I know what they fully expect and I’m able to go above and beyond in providing an amazing experience for them, their friends and family.

Can you tell us about your packages and price point?
Unlike most companies who charge by how many hours they play, how many microphones they bring or if their talent is entry level I charge a flat fee. If we need extra of something, I take care of it so my clients don’t have to.

Most important piece of advice you would give to people looking for a DJ?
Meet with them, like them, be confident in their skills, and trust them. It’s impossible to get a read on someone’s personality without sitting down with them and making sure they’re a good fit. One of my mentors Mitch Taylor from Taylored Weddings in Michigan says “ Would you trust a complete stranger you’ve never met with a microphone in front of all your friends and family on the most important day of your life? I wouldn’t!”

Tell us one thing we might not otherwise know about you.
We have the largest completely wireless battery operated fixtures in the area. Everything from wireless remote controlled chandeliers to monograms, pinspots and everything in between!

How can we follow your business or get in touch with you?
We can grab coffee or a beer at any time. My cell phone is 715.563.4748, feel free to call or text. If you prefer to do some research first www.IgniteLightingAndEvents.com, and I can be reached via email at IgniteEventGroup@Gmail.com
