Rochelle & Tom.jpg

We've had the chance to work with Rochelle Louise Photography on quite a few occasions now and she is one of our faves! She is so fun to work with and does amazing work. Her husband assists her at each and every wedding making for a great team. We had the chance to do a little Q&A session with Rochelle to find out more about her and her biz.

Tell us about your business.
Rochelle Louise Photography is a husband & wife photography team. My husband, Tom, and I shoot every wedding together and in the past five years, we have really honed in our working style. We love being able to be together as we document the first day of marriage for each of our couples. I also do newborn and motherhood sessions which is really fun to get to work with several of our wedding couples in the years following their wedding! Most of the weddings we shoot take place in the Minneapolis area, but we've also been able to shoot some destination weddings in California which is really fun for us to mix into our portfolio (especially if they are during the winter months)!

What do you love most about being a wedding photographer?
I love getting to know our couples from the time we first meet to their engagement session and finally the wedding day. It's really fun to build that relationship so that by the time the wedding arrives, it feels like we're hanging out with friends on the best day of their lives!

What led you to the wedding industry, specifically?
Our own wedding (pre-pinterest, Instagram, etc.) is what really made me interested in the wedding industry. In fact, I started out doing wedding planning and after a handful of weddings, started getting pulled toward photography. Tom and I were each interested in photography starting in junior high & high school, but it wasn't until we had friends getting engaged that we started trying our hand at engagement sessions. Soon after that season, our first wedding was booked and to date, we've now shot over 75 weddings together over the past five years.

What are your favorite wedding trends right now?
I love outdoor weddings so much - especially outdoor dinners. Eating with friends and family under the stars and continuing the dance outdoors is a really romantic and cozy setting. It also makes for beautiful photos since we can utilize natural light through the evening. I also love the direction that wedding dresses are going - interesting necklines, textures and details. Our local Minneapolis boutiques are full of these gorgeous dresses and I'm so glad they provide these options to our brides!

Tell us about your most memorable and fun wedding/event.
The emotions of a wedding day are probably the most memorable part of any day. When a couple has an emotional first look or walk down the aisle, those are things we don't quickly forget. It's easy to think about the fanciest or most unique wedding, but at the heart of what we do, we love couples who are invested in their marriages more than their wedding days.

What makes you unique from other wedding photographers?
Being a husband and wife team is definitely an advantage for us. Our couples really appreciate that part of working with us. Tom and I are both pretty laid-back people, so we're a calming presence on the wedding day. On the flip side, we are also very aware that we are a driving force on the wedding day to stay on track with timeline, running family photos smoothly, and other parts of the day that can get a little hectic.

Can you tell us about your packages and price point?
Our collections are 8 and 10 hours of wedding day coverage and include a complementary engagement session. Our starting price point for 2018 brides is $3800 for 8 hours. We also frequently customize collections to suit exactly what a couple is looking for.

Tell us one thing we might now know about you otherwise.
Before jumping into photography full-time, I worked as a technology consultant! Totally different from the creative world of the wedding industry, but I loved my job and actually found it difficult to leave. Being two years full-time in photography has really allowed me to focus on growing our business and giving our clients the absolute best experience because there's now time to do it!
