Vendor Spotlight: Amy's Cupcake Shoppe
If you haven’t already visited Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe, then boy are you missing out! All of her desserts are delicious! Not to mention, Amy is one of the sweetest people we know (no pun-intended!) We met her last year as we had partnered on a styled shoot and also worked a few weddings together. With that, we asked Amy a few questions about her business and to find out more about her.
What excites you most about the work you do?
I love being able to create delicious treats from scratch every day. So many of my amazing memories were in the kitchen baking with my mom, and getting to put that love into our treats really makes a difference. Creating custom treats for couples for weddings has been the best experience, as we get to learn about their families, and make memories for them to share on their big day.
How do you exceed your client's expectations?
We always bake from scratch with only the best ingredients. Every couple is unique in their needs, and we are able to make gluten free, vegan, dairy free, and almost any other special dietary needs the couple or their guests might need. We have gotten to make cakes for people who have never gotten to have a cake to celebrate! From their tasting to their wedding day we keep the lines of communication open, so we can be sure to give the best customer service we can.
What should couples look for in their wedding cake baker?
Couples should make sure their baker is able to make their dessert dreams come true. Budgets are all over the place, and we are able to work with almost any budget. We sit down with couples to design their cake, cupcakes, or dessert table. Each element of dessert is important to us, and that truly shows in our consultations with couples. Affordable, reliable, and passionate about desserts is what they should be looking for!
What is your most popular cake flavor(s)?
By far our most popular flavor is our Salted Caramel. It’s a chocolate cake/cupcake filled with our homemade salted caramel, topped with vanilla buttercream and an extra dollop of caramel on our cupcakes. Our second most popular is our White Wedding Cake. This is our take on the classic white cake with a hint of almond extract and ground almond flour for an extra rich almond flavor. We pair it with our vanilla buttercream for a perfectly delicious and light flavor.
What trends are you noticing?
We are still seeing so many metallics on cakes, including hand painted gold, and rose gold. We are also noticing lots of dessert tables to increase the amount of variety in desserts the guests are able to choose from. We have done mini parfaits, tarts, pies, macarons, mini cupcakes, cookies, and even our mini Belgian Liege waffles. With our ability to do gluten free and vegan treats, we love being able to have something for everyone!
Anything else we should know about you?
We have an open kitchen at our location in Hopkins, and love it when people come to watch us work. Creating everything from scratch takes a bit longer, but it’s always worth it. We make our jams, curds, caramel, cakes, frostings and everything in between from scratch and aren’t afraid to show everyone. It’s like watching cake decorating shows, but in real life!
