Wedding Hashtag: #GetYoursNow

If you've been to a wedding in the past year, chances are you've seen a message from the bride and groom letting guests know to use their wedding hashtag. While most of you millennials seem to know the deal, a lot of people just don't understand the concept behind that hash tag, or "pound sign" as my Dad would call it. If you're on Twitter or Instagram, a hashtag is considered the norm. It makes the content of your post accessible to all people with similar interests, even if they aren't already following you on social media. We love the idea of a wedding hashtag because as long as your friends and family are using it, you can create your own "portfolio" of photos to be displayed on both Twitter and Instagram. If you click the hashtag, all the photos from your wedding day, bachelorette party, bridal shower -- and whatever else -- will be displayed for anyone and everyone to see.

While it's certainly not mandatory to have a wedding hash tag, I'm finding they are becoming more and more popular in the past year. If you and your guests are active on social media, I highly recommend having one! Not everyone is going to use it or even understand what it means for that matter, but they're still fun to have for the guests that do want to get involved! Finally, for some inspiration and ideas on how to display your hashtag, check out this featured article on the Knot.

Now comes the fun part... coming up with a fun and unique hashtag, of course! Whether you come up with one yourself or need some guidance (check out the Wedding Wire Hashtag Generator), there is something for everyone!
